There are many adjustments you can make that can really improve your quality of sleep. Getting up at the same time every day, going to bed around the same time, eating healthy, avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, keep naps short if you take them, exercise, etc. I’m sure one thing you’ve also heard of is to turn off all electronics an hour before bedtime.
These devices trick your brain into thinking it’s daytime because they emit light of blue wavelength. Many studies have shown that using these devices right up until bedtime, can disrupt sleep patterns.
iPhones have a built-in setting you can enable, called “Night Shift”. You can set it to Sunset to Sunrise, or set it manually. What it does is, it automatically shifts colors of your display to the warmer end of the color spectrum. It has a tint of red that you will need to get use to but the setting gives you an adjustable bar you can set from “Less Warm” to “More Warm”.
- Go to Settings.
- Display & Brightness
- Night Shift
There are also apps you can download if you have an Android.
